Introduction
St. John's Nursery School has been operated by
St. John's Lutheran Church since 1955. The school provides a nurturing,
structured learning environment enriched by Christian values. A written
curriculum provides a balanced program, stimulating all aspects of the
child's growth. Curriculum areas include Language Arts, Mathematics,
Social Studies, Science, Music and Art.
The school is approved by the Maryland
State Department of Education and all faculty members have a bachelor's
degree with a minimum of 12 Early Childhood credits. Assistant teachers
have a high school diploma and a minimum of 90 class hours of Early
Childhood training. Participation in continuing Early Childhood Education
is required of all staff. The student to teacher ratio is a 1-10 maximum.
Our program encourages imagination and
creativity by providing a variety of resources and materials for arts
and crafts, science, nature exploration and construction.
