Outreach is Impacted by Your Prayer Life

Research has revealed that all successful evangelistic movements have seven basic factors in common, three for the church (praying church, coaching, and equipping) and four for small groups (praying leaders, focused outreach, loving relationships and empowering leader). These seven factors lead ot conversion growth, discipleship and group multiplication. (Research is from Missions International known as Groups Ablaze in the LCMS. Studies were dozen in 21 countries with 2500 small groups.)

Prayer is the most important factor in reaching people outside the Church.

How outreach-oriented is your prayer life?
The Bible has much to say about prayer. God gives us his Word not only to hear, but to do, to live, to practice, to share ... to get out there into the world!

EPHESIANS 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.

Pray for personal spiritual growth and the spiritual growth of other believers:
I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. Ephesians 1:18-19

Pray for your witness and the witness of other believers to be fearless:
Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. Ephesians 6:19-20

Pray for opportunities to share the love of Jesus with others:
And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. Colossians 4:3-6

Pray that the message will spread:
Pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith. But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:1b-3

Pray for the desire to be active in sharing the faith you have in Christ:
I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. Philemon 1:6

Pray (by name) for specific people to come to faith:
If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. 1 John 5:16
